Leesa Bertram for Pretty Disturbia
I'm Leesa Bertram. Fashion designer, stylist & brand manager for Pretty Disturbia. I work on average, 12 hours a day, but love it! I never wear the same outfit twice so this blog is to update my outfits daily for an insight to my personal style. It consists of designer one off pieces, to car boot sale bargains, high street finds, ebay goodies and of course, the Pretty Disturbia collection for how its worn by a typical non model normo, like moi.

Pretty Disturbia- Behind the Scenes of a Alternative Fashion Brand

Here at PD, We're about a lot of pretty cool things...not just fashion!
Infact we don't actually follow trends at all, we do what we love and are passionate about and thats alternative style.
We are never influenced by whats on trend or what celebs are currently wearing, as its more important to us that we do is different to what is currently out there...

Also, we really care about the environment and therefore we recycle and really don't waste a thing.
Heres how.
We hand make items, mainly by hand stitching/ customising/ hand making clothing, jewellery and accessories from scratch.
We buy vintage items and sell them on.
If they are ever damaged, we repair them or re-work them.
We try and keep vintage items as original as possible so we don't re-work things unless its absolutely necessary!
We're all about the recycling, so we even have clothes swapping parties on a regular basis! Anything thats left over, gets given to our local charity shops.

When pattern cutting for garments, we even re-use paper bags as part of the pattern piece! eg. Primark bags- thank you very much!
We also pride ourselves on being individual and unique, therefore we make small/ one off runs of clothing and accessories and promote individual style!
If we ever need to source things to make- we always try and support local and independent businesses, as its who we are too! ....small and growing!

In addition to all this, We're all about the fun, friendly attitude in the design studio, so we work with the music on, have constant treats at hand and always go out to lunch for staff birthdays!
We also try and help others by offering free internships! If your interested in joining our great little team, please get in touch to Leesa at Leesa@etradesignhouse.co.uk

Hey pretty people!

This is Pretty Disturnias' newest Dolly Spencer!
We just wrapped up our July swap here at Red Door Studios and boy was it good. Old friends, new friends and friends of friends came from all over for this swap. Clothes swaps like these are a great way to update your wardrobe for free and meet other fashionistas in your area.
(The calm before the swap storm. Thats me in the American flag socks)!

If you've never done a swap, it's pretty straight forward. Bring in your old and unwanted fashion ( clothes, bags ect) and swap them for something new for your wardrobe! Get shoes and jeans that are already worn and broken in for free? Yes please!

We like to make a whole shindig of it too with food and drinks. While we wait for all our guests , we chat over house special cocktails and snacks. Really get to know one another and make new friends before the fierce race to the rack starts . Once everyone has arrived we all hang up and display our tribute for all to see. On the count of three WE GO FOR THE GOOOOLD. After the rack is picked clean, we review our selection and try things on.

After we all decide we are satisfied, we show off our new prizes. Our Dolly Dominique scored a lovely black leather bag, perfect for her books and laptop (so jealous).Laura our amazing model walked away with a commendable pile of garments. Including my houndstooth frock ( We had some good times that frock and  I, but it was time to move on).My friend Robyn joined us and had a great time. She snatched up a knit head wrap (she didn't know what it was but we figured it out together) and a classic red turtleneck top from yours truly. I was over the moon about my finds of red hotpants,a gothic dress and a few skirts.
(That amazing houndtooth frock I was telling you about.)

The rack was empty, the sign of a great swap. A great time was had my all and we hope you join us for the next one!

XOXO,
PD Dolly Spencer ;)
